NASIJ

After visiting Palestine in the fall of 2017, Nadine Khoury (the founder) noticed the positive growth in the Palestinian art scene. However, there was a noticeable gap in the market. There were a plethora of Palestinian artists that were actively creating art in the region, yet not given their due attention.

The world is populated with over 13 million Palestinians, 50% of whom are displaced outside Palestine and the occupied territories due to years of political instability. When Palestinians move abroad they yearn for a connection to their homeland that many have not stepped foot in since their exit. These individuals always find a way to connect with their roots through various festivals highlighting Palestinian arts and culture in addition to charity work. This is where Nasij comes along to allow the public easy access to affordable and original Palestinian art delivered to their doorstep. This is how Nasij aims to globalize the artworks of Palestinians by functioning as the liaison between the artist and the collector.

In Arabic, the term “Nasij” is a form of embroidery and weaving. Likewise, the online platform is metaphorically weaving together the artist and the client.
